What to Expect When You’re Expecting (to visit Keystone Resort this Winter)

Hello, friends! Welcome to the 2023/24 winter season at Keystone!

The moment we’ve all been waiting for has finally arrived: Winter is here! Our teams have been working around the clock to kick off the winter season, and there is so much we are looking forward to this year! From first chair to last chair (9 am to 4 pm to start the season), whether it’s for a few hours or a few days, you can get to the fun part faster by planning ahead and getting the on-snow scoop before you arrive. With that in mind, we've got some updates and operational news we want to share so that you know what’s in store for the season ahead.

Read more below about what you should know before you go this winter. We can’t wait to see you on the slopes this season at Keystone.

Bergman Unlocked

Drum rollllll, please, for the most exciting news of all! The much-anticipated Bergman Express is on schedule to open this winter season. This high-speed 6-pack will offer, for the first time ever, lift-served access to Keystone’s high alpine, complete with 550+ acres and 16 new trails! Come see for yourself what makes Bergman Bowl so special: Wide open spaces, playful trees and even some steep and tight powder stashes – all capped off with unbeatable views of Keystone and the rest of Summit County. Meanwhile, advanced skiers and riders will have lift access to Erickson Bowl for the very first time, where some of Keystone's steepest and most technical high-alpine skiing awaits! The vast majority of this terrain relies on natural snowfall, so we hope to have you making your first turns up there sometime in late December or early January, as Mother Nature allows.

An Elevated Dining Experience

Hungry, anyone? You’re in luck – our food and beverage offerings are getting an upgrade this year. Ski day favorites like chicken tenders and cheeseburgers are still on the menu, of course. But if you’re looking for something a little more elevated (see what we did there?), head to the 9280 Sake House - formerly 9280 Taproom - to tuck into Asian-inspired favorites like ramen bowls with sake on draft. Want to stay on hill? The newly renovated Timber Ridge offers a brand-new international menu that includes shawarma, gyros, taco stations and more, all with sweeping views above 11,000 ft! Head there to warm up with a hot cocoa (or two!) after fresh turns in Bergman Bowl for incredible panoramas, cozy cocktails, and fireside chats.

Sunset on the Slopes

Bring your headlamps, glowsticks, and neon ‘fits because night skiing is back on weekends and holidays this winter, based out of River Run Village and the River Run Gondola. While our hours and days have shifted slightly, we are ready to light up the night until 7:00 pm on Friday and Saturday evenings, plus during key holidays including Thursday-Saturday of Thanksgiving Weekend and every night from Dec. 23-31. The late-night fun kicks off on Thanksgiving, and you can check out our full night skiing schedule right here on our website.

Freestylin with ease

This season, our A51 Terrain Park is built with a progression layout in mind, so that even the newest of skiers and riders have what they need to develop into park pros. Little rippers and novices will be able to enjoy small snow features on The Alley where they can fine tune their shredding fundamentals. From there, riders can work their way up to some of our family features on Main Street and Park Lane before leveling up to our biggest features on I-70 These trails will boast a bit of everything jump lines, rails, a minipipe and even a family ski cross course to inspire a little inter-generational competition!

More reasons to carpool with your #KeySquad!

Snow days are better with friends, especially when that means prime parking spots. In line with our commitment to achieve a net zero operating footprint by 2030 and to encourage carpooling, we have doubled our carpool and family parking spots in our River Run parking lot! Grab 3 friends (4+ folks per vehicle) and get a prime parking spot so you can get on the snow and start exploring, fast. Families also get prime parking, so be sure to let a River Run parking attendant know if you’ve got kiddos 12 and under in the car. Family and carpool parking spots are offered on a first-come, first-serve basis, so arrive early for your best chance to grab a spot up close!

Speaking of arriving early, be sure to familiarize yourself with our opening hours so you can plan accordingly for that first-chair feeling:

  • Opening DayDec. 15: 9 am

  • December 16 - March 31: 8:30 am

  • April 1 - Closing: 9 am

Get those skis tuned and boards waxed. We’ll ski ya out there!
